ABOUT FIRST CLIMATE

Kompensation von CO2-Emissionen mit First Climate With more than ten years experience, First Climate is one of the leading emissions trading companies in Europe. With a team of around 100 experts and a presence on four continents, it is one of the few organizations that cover the entire carbon credit value chain. First Climate enables environment-conscious companies to voluntarily neutralize their greenhouse gas emissions through strictly verified CO2 certificates (VERs). Furthermore, the company develops, finances and implements CDM and JI projects, purchases the emissions credits they generate, and make these available to companies subject to the EU emissions trading regulations. First Climate also structures and develops climate protection funds and related products for a host of institutional investors. First Climate has its headquarters for Germany in Bad Vilbel near Frankfurt / Main.

QUALITY STANDARDS

For VER projects, quality assurance is of vital importance. Therefore, to ensure the highest possible quality in selecting VER projects, all First Climate projects are examined by UN-accredited verifiers (DOEs = Designated Operational Entities). They certify project quality and the amount of verifiably reduced greenhouse gases. Examples of top-drawer standards are the CDM Standard, the Gold Standard that is supported by the WWF, the VER+ Standard of TÜV Süd, and the Climate Community and Biodiversity Standard.

PROJECT PORTFOLIO

First Climate’s well-balanced portfolio comprises projects in different regions. For the most part, the project portfolio is made up of renewable energies (wind, hydroelectric power, biomass), energy efficiency measures, and forestry projects. They are all validated by UN-accredited “Designated Operational Entities”, verified (SGS, TÜV Süd, AENOR) and conform to internationally recognized standards for emissions reduction projects (CDM, VER+, Gold Standard, CCB). In project selection, besides CO2 reduction, importance is placed on improving the social and economic conditions in the project regions.
