Balance information for printed product
The carbon footprint of this printed product was calculated using the TÜV Austria-certified CO₂ calculator of the Climate Initiative of the Printing and Media Associations. The TÜV Austria certification confirms the conformity of the calculation methods for product-related carbon footprints (PCF) with DIN ISO 14067:2018.
Emissions sources considered
The calculation of the CO₂e footprint takes into account the significant product emissions of Scopes 1–3. Unless otherwise specified, the balance sheet includes: - CO₂e emissions from the production of raw materials and energy
-
Direct emissions (Scope 1)
Emissions from the company's own electricity and heat generation, vehicle fleet and volatile gases. -
Indirect energy-related emissions (Scope 2)
Emissions from the procurement of electricity, heat and other energy sources. -
Other indirect emissions (Scope 3)
Emissions from business travel and employee commuting, as well as other emissions relevant to the printing and media industry that occur outside the company. These include, in particular, emissions from the production of raw materials and intermediate products, external logistics, product use and disposal, and from upstream or downstream processes such as print finishing. Printing substrates, printing inks and printing aids are particularly relevant here.
Investment in projects
As part of the production of this printed product, a financial contribution was made to the climate project „Efficient cooking stoves, Kenya“, certified according to Gold Standard. The investment is not related to the calculation of the CO₂e footprint.
Efficient cooking stoves, Kenya
The “Jikokoa” cookstoves project allows families in rural Kenya to cook Portfolio food using cleaner, more efficient cook stoves, thereby consuming less Energy Efficiency charcoal.
